Streatham and Clapham High School

Happiness and achievement go hand in hand. Whatever her ability, tailored academic interventions by specialist staff and bespoke learning plans ensure our girls achieve. The well-being of every girl is paramount. We talk to each child daily, encouraging her to share thoughts and feelings with staff trained to recognise behavioural and emotional changes.

Our Prep School’s classrooms and outdoor areas are spacious and inviting, and we have many exciting opportunities for our girls to develop their physical, social, emotional and intellectual skills through a wide range of activities.

“Pupils’ attitudes to learning are outstanding, both when collaborating and when working independently.” ISI report, 2019

Girls can join the Prep School in three key intake points – Nursery (3+) , Reception (4+) and Year 3 (7+). Because girls develop intellectually and socially earlier than boys of the same age, our girls in our Prep School are never held back from their aspirations or abilities. Buoyant, confident and unafraid to fail, our girls represent the true meaning of our motto ‘towards wisdom, unafraid’.

Our girls enjoy a broadly intellectual and well-rounded education. We create a vibrant, stimulating curriculum, tailored to fit the needs of the individual, ensuring girls succeed in a myriad of different subjects. A diverse spectrum of enrichment activities provide unlimited opportunity to develop new skills and confidence.

We believe that all members of the school should be inspired to outperform expectations on a daily basis. The pursuit of excellence is thus a defining feature of our Senior School. This is reflected in our examination results, which place us in the top tier of independent schools nationally.

We nurture our girls to attain success across the widest spectrum of activity, extending far beyond the conventional ‘academic’ horizon. In so doing, they learn the beauty of reason, the allure of the aesthetic, and the vitality of the physical throughout their secondary education.

“Pupils excel across a wide range of academic, sporting and creative activities.” ISI Report, 2019

Education at our Senior School

Our girls, whether they are very able or late developers, learn to navigate the landscape of the human spirit and achieve beyond the realms of expectation.

Girls are encouraged to try new subjects, taking a broad-minded view of learning, and as our girls advance, they enjoy progressively more independence throughout their secondary education at our Senior School. We support them in feeling confident in their own choices and teach them the skills they need for a constantly changing world.

Throughout their education, SCHS girls benefit from subject-specialist teachers and the experts who teach them fundamental study skills whilst capturing their imaginations.
